In feite kun je niet meer om LA 33 heen. Deze salsaband uit Bogotá, Colombia maakt gevariëerde en aanstekelijke salsa waar je niet meer bij stil kunt staan. Hun debuutcd werd ook in Nederland heel goed verkocht. Hun tweede cd Gonzalo is al bijna net zo populair. Het originele van LA 33 zit ‘m in het mixen van jaren'70 grooves van boogaloo, latin jazz, salsa-mambo met een moderne sound. Ook halen zij soms de cumbia uit de kast en mixen dit met salsa (cumbia-salsa). Met de openingstrack Descarga 33 kun je je voeten niet van de vloer houden! De laatste tijd komen er veel successen uit Colombia en merk je dat cumbia en vallenato steeds populairder wordt bij een groot publiek. The Colombian band, led by bassist Sergio Mejia, made a big impact with their debut La 33 and they clearly decided to up the ante here. Listen to Juan David Fernandez's timbales roar on the explosive cumbia-salsa "Plinio Guzman." And the uptempo jazzy-mambo instrumental title track "Gozalo" shows that this band is made of real musicians who can play.
