Explosieve, hard-core salsa dura uit New York, Most Wanted salsa-dura TIP
De beste, nieuwe salsa groep uit New York van de laatste paar jaar is het nieuwe, jonge La Excelencia, met ongepolijste, explosieve hard-core salsa dura met veel accenten op de percussie (bongo, timbales en conga), pittige breaks en 2 fantastische zangers, die jongere uitgaven zijn van soneros als Hector Lavoe of Frankie Ruiz met sociaal, bewogen teksten. Hun debuut CD kan zich meten met het beste van stads-genoten Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Jimmy Bosch, Grupo Caribe en Wayne Gorbea. Volgens de Most Wanted crew gaven deze jonge honden het beste salsa concert van 2008 op 22 juni van dat jaar op het Afro-Latino Festival in Bree, Belgie. Wij zagen daar de reincarnaties van Hector Lavoe, Ismael Rivera en Ray Barretto op het podium in een absoluut, spetterend (voor ons nu al legendarisch) optreden !
MOST WANTED SALSA DURA TIP

It takes just a note or two to hear that La Excelencia is different. Made up of younger salsa musicians, it plays raw and hard, with none of the sweetening that gunk up pop salsa. This is unprettified salsa dura, with the percussion cranked, lots of breaks, the voices loud, almost distorted. It’s the sound of a tough working band, the sort that used to be everywhere in New York and now are rare to find. It’s unapologetic, and unafraid of its tradition, and the cd’s staying in my player for a long time. Highly Recommended. (by Descarga)

These guys are bringing Salsa back to it's raw uncut roots and doing a wonderful job at it. Think of younger versions of Hector Lavoe, Frankie Ruiz, the list is endless. For a lover of classic Salsa this is most definately worth checking out. You won't be disappointed.
With "Salsa con Conciencia" every song is EXCELLENT!! The CD has a bit of everything, guguanco on the tune "La Salsa y el Guaguango, bolero-cha on "El Tiempo en tus Manos", a descarga on "Hijo de los Rumberos" and the rest is just fantastic salsa dura for DANCING! The single "La Lucha" is an awesome tune, like and the majority of the songs speak about social issues. This will be a collectors item! This band has been called the hope of salsa! I have had the privlage to see them live and just like anyone who has all they can say is, "WHAT A BAND"!!!
