Dominican-born and New York-educated Amarfis has been releasing slick Latin dance pop since the late `90s. On 7MA SYNFONIA DEL MAMBO, Amarfis and his backing band, La Banda de Atakke, draw on elements of salsa, merengue, and even occasionally the frenetic rhythms of reggaeton, as evidenced on the infectious lead-off track, "El Pollo".
