Top 2 CD verzamel CD van wijlen Marvin Santiago, al deze nummers stonden al eerder op de Oro Salsero 2 CD.
When Marvin Santiago died in October 2004 at the age of 56 none of his ten solo albums were in print. However, until Universal hopefully get round to reissuing his first nine albums on TH and TH-Rodven, the compilation Marvin Santiago Oro Salsero: 20 Exitos gives reasonable coverage of his work between 1977 and 1990, but typically gives no background information. Included are his calling card hits "Fuego a la Jicotea" from the 1979 Jorge Millet production of the same title and "Auditorio Azul" from the 1981 live album Adentro recorded at the Bayamón Regional Prison in Puerto Rico where he was incarcerated the previous year. Other highlights include remakes of two hits he originally recorded with Cortijo y su Bonche in 1968: "Vasos En Colores" (from Fuego A La Jicotea), with a commanding arrangement and piano solo by Millet, and "La Campana Del Lechón" (from El Hijo Del Pueblo '82). Also featured are "La Pela", one of three tracks he recorded with Tommy Olivencia, and "Estaca De Guayacán", another prison recording that originally appeared on 1981's Primer Concierto De La Familia TH.
Like Ismael Rivera, Chamaco Ramirez and Tito Allen, Marvin Santiago is a true salsa sonero whose funky phrasing, street-flavored soneos and unrefined vocal style demonstrate what a classic sonero should sound like. This is real straight-up salsa, no romantic crooning or whining here, it's straight from the street y con sabor Boricua!
